Phaco Emulsification

Phacoemulsification refers to modern cataract surgery in which the eye's internal lens is emulsified with an ultrasonic handpiece, and aspirated from the eye. Aspirated fluids are replaced with irrigation of balanced salt solution, thus maintaining the anterior chamber, as well as cooling the handpiece.

Phaco is also called as
No Injection
No Stitch
No Bandage
Cataract Surgery.

This is because no Injection is given in the eye to numb the eye. We just use anaesthetic eye drops. The incision in a Phaco Surgery is just 2.5 mm and it’s a self sealing incision, so there is no need of any sutures. Since the surgery is done with a very small incision, there is no need to Bandage the eye at the end of Surgery. The surgery is done on a day care basis and you can return back home on the same day and resume all your normal activities including of going back to work in just two days.

At our centre we use the Souvereign advanced phaco machine. This technology is also called as the Cold Phaco system.

The Souvereign Machine has advanced fluidics control and ensures that the patients have clear corneas on post op day one and also minmal wound burn.

We use the Zeiss Intra Ocular lens Master to measure the power of the Intra Ocular Lens . This is the most advanced machine to measure Intra Ocular Lens power and there is allmost nil error in the calculation of IOL power.
